Service Learning Opportunities

1. Canvassing with Sue Garza on Saturdays: Open to ALL students at GW.  Dress for the weather!! You will meet at 9:45am on Saturdays on the 2ND Floor of her office at 10500 S. Ewing Ave.  Ask for Sue Garza and make sure you bring back PROOF of volunteering with her. Let me know if you have any questions.

2.  Sign Up for Egger's Grove Service Saturdays: Open to ALL students at GW.  Dress for the weather.  This service is from 10am - 1pm.  We meet at Egger's Grove off of 112th St. and Avenue E. You need to drive into the farther parking area. If Mr. Miller is not there, ask for Jon Pastirik and tell him you are with Washington High School.  We usually cut out invasive species and burn them in order to preserve native Illinois plants.   This is worth 5 service learning hours.

5.  Sign Up to Complete an Independent Project:  Open to ALL students at GW.  This opportunity is worth a minimum of 15 service learning hours and there is no maximum.  Depending on your proposal, you may earn 20, 25, 30, 35 or even 40 service learning hours for a project.  Talk to Mr. Miller if you have any questions.  Fill out this form entirely and Mr. Miller will contact you on whether your project is approved or not.  You will need to show how you will prepare for the project, what you will do for your service, and how you will reflect after your service.
